Sung Kyu’s work focuses on ongoing debates about the Green Revolution and smallholder farming policy in developing countries. His PhD research explored the dynamic processes and multifaceted nature of farming and livelihood practices of smallholder farmers by using mixed methods and pathways approach. His interest in the sustainable food system has led to research and fieldwork in small-scale farming regions in Rwanda, Senegal, the Gambia, and Haiti.

During this postdoc fellowship, Sung Kyu wants to explore and develop further the idea of ‘learning across different knowledge systems’ with Professor Fiona Marshall at the Science Policy Research Unit (SPRU) to better understand the knowledge exchange dynamics between various producers and users of science, technology and innovation knowledge in Rwanda.
