SPRU 40th Anniversary Conference - The Future of Science, Technology and Innovation Policy
11-13 September 2006, University of Sussex
SPRU celebrates its 40th Anniversary in 2006 with a conference which invites participants to engage in a critical evaluation of the present and future research agenda of the Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) field.
This conference will explore empirical, theoretical and applied policy approaches to enable us to conceptualise the contradictory nature of modern science, technology and innovation, and thus provide practical policy guidance. We are particularly interested in contributions that address the intersections of science, technology and innovation and adopt forward-looking approaches in investigating their impacts on society.
We invite participants and contributors keen to engage in a critical and collective dialogue that could contribute to making the STI field more exciting and challenging for our research community, more relevant to policy practice and more 'in synch' with society at large.

Knowledge exchange: a new approach to knowledge transfer
Knowledge transfer lies at the heart of public policy on science and innovation. This lecture looks at how recent developments in our understanding of the process of knowledge transfer are better encapsulated in the term knowledge exchange. The implications of this for universities are examined.
