Summer courses - places can be booked now

All courses must be booked and paid for in advance which can be done at either the Sport Centre or
Falmer Sports Complex reception or over the telephone using your debit/credit card.

 Please ensure that you read the course notes.


Basic Ballet: 4pm-5pm

Basic components of ballet technique for co-ordination and suppleness incorporating short dance sequences. A course at both introductory and elementary levels.

Venue: Dance Studio

Dates: Monday 8 May - Monday 5 June (4 weeks)

*Please note there will be no class on Monday 29 May

Staff course fee: £16.00


Staff-only Yoga: 5.45pm-6.45pm

Yoga tutor Gratia Churchill will help you learn to relax into your body and become naturally stronger. The class will focus on simple movements and techniques that encourage the mechanics of your body to work well and efficiently; helping to reduce tension, feel supported and naturally strong in body and mind.

Venue: Barlow Gallery, the Library

Dates: Wednesday 7 June - Wednesday 12 July (6 weeks)

Staff course fee: £24.00


Ballet Pointe: 4pm-5pm

Graduation from basic ballet course, or equivalent, required. This course is for those who have previously danced on pointe as well as those who are currently dancing on three quarter pointe and are preparing to go on pointe.

Dates: Friday 12 May - Friday 9 June (4 weeks)

*Please note there will be no class on Friday 19 May

Staff course fee: £16.00


Ballet Intermediate: 11.30am-12.30pm

This course offers a step between the basic ballet and ballet pointe work.

Venue: Sport Centre 

Dates: Saturday 6 May - Saturday 3 June (5 weeks)

Staff course fee: £20.00


If you find you have a commitment that clashes with a course that you have signed up for, we will give you a full refund providing you let us know at least 24 hours before the course commences.

Course notes

  • Drop-in sessions are not offered on courses.
  • Courses will be cancelled if there are insufficient numbers, so please book in advance to ensure that the course you are interested in runs.
  • Once you are signed onto a course, please come to reception before each session and ensure that your name is ticked off the course register.
  • Drink plenty of water to avoid dehydration and if you have any injuries or problems then discuss these with the instructor before the class.
  • Do not arrive late for a course as the warm up is a vital part of the session and helps prevent injury. Entry to the class will be denied if you are more than 10 minutes late. 
  • We ensure that all teachers are fully qualified and experienced. However, all participants take part in any activity at their own risk.
