Courses

Courses are available to all on campus and a Sussexsport membership isn’t required to register. The courses are designed to be progressive in nature and allow participants to develop their practice or skill over a block of weeks.

All courses must be booked and paid for in advance. Visit the Sport Centre or Falmer Sports Complex reception, or book your place over the telephone using your debit/credit card. Contact the Sport Centre on 01273 678228 or Falmer Sports Complex on 01273 877125.

Tuesday

Yoga: 1pm-2pm

Based on flowing sequences and precise alignment, linked to full rhythmic breathing that will open up both body and mind. This class will improve your strength, stamina and flexibility. Suitable for beginners.

Instructor: Gratia

Venue: Dance Studio

Course length: 4 weeks

Start date: Tuesday 27 August

End date: Tuesday 17 September

Staff course fee: £16.00

Taster sessions

Unsure if you want to sign up for a course? You can sign up to one of our taster sessions to see if a course is for you. Each taster session is priced at £4.00 for Sussex University staff. Please note that signing up to a taster session does not guarantee you a place on the course. Please note that taster sessions are unfortunately unavailable for Ballet Pointe and Ballet Intermediates, due to the additional weeks in the course length.

Refunds

If you find you have a lecture or commitment that clashes with a course that you have signed up for, we will give you a full refund providing you let us know at least 24 hours before the course commences.

Course notes

  • Drop-in sessions are not offered on courses.
  • Courses will be cancelled if there are insufficient numbers, so please book in advance to ensure that the course you are interested in runs.
  • Once you are signed onto a course, please come to reception before each session and ensure that your name is ticked off the course register.
  • Drink plenty of water to avoid dehydration and if you have any injuries or problems then discuss these with the instructor before the class.
  • Do not arrive late for a course as the warm up is a vital part of the session and helps prevent injury. Entry to the class will be denied if you are more than 10 minutes late.
  • We ensure that all teachers are fully qualified and experienced. However, all participants take part in any activity at their own risk.
