8 teams from across the University took part in Sussexsport’s yearly staff wellbeing rounders tournament this year. The bright sunshine made for a thoroughly enjoyable experience for everyone involved, especially with the SussexFood tricycle providing players with cold drinks. The event took place at the Falmer Sports Complex pitches and saw staff members competing for the Sussexsport rounders trophy, which last year was won by the Genome Damage and Stability Centre.
This year’s tournament included teams from:
-Brighton and Sussex Medical School
-Educational Enhancement
-Estates and Facilities Management
-Digital Engagement
-Life Sciences
-Maths and Physics
-GDSC
-PHD Psychology.
Congratulations to the team from the PHD psychology department, who became the new champions after beating the Maths and Physics department by half a point in a close-run final. Captain of the Psychology team, Charlotte Dunkeld, said this about their win:
“We came, we saw, we psychoanalysed.. we conquered. Mind over matter was key to success”.
All staff involved were extremely grateful for the tournament and are already looking forward to the next big event. A big thanks to everyone who turned up (including the staff from Sussexsport who umpired the games).
Sussexsport run a number of opportunities for staff to get active on campus throughout the year, both competitive and casual. You can find out more on the Sussexsport page.
The next event will be a volleyball tournament, taking place at Yellow Wave beach sports venue just before the start of the new term (date TBC). Details will be on the Sussexsport social media accounts nearer the time.
