Over 50 members of staff competed in Sussexsport's annual Rounders Tournament on Friday (18 August).
The sun was shining as five different departments from across campus took to the pitches at Falmer Sports Complex.
The team from Life Science's Sussex Drug Discovery Centre (SDDC), captained by Kamlesh Bala, were looking to repeat their tournament victory from 2015. And in a closely fought final, SDDC beat Human Resources to retain the trophy for another year.
Playoffs for third place saw staff from the School of Engineering and Informatics slog it out against colleagues from the Student Progress and Assessment offices, with Engineering and Informatics claiming victory to take bronze place in the tournament.
Vik Winter, captain of the Magic Rounder Bats from the School of Engineering and Informatics, said: “There were just six players in our team, so we really had our work cut out for us, but it was great fun and a perfect opportunity to get to know staff from our own school as well as from others.
“We’ll all be back… bigger… stronger… with more sandwiches!”
The teams who took part were as follows:
- Sussex Drug Discovery Centre (Life Sciences)
- The Magic Rounders Bat (Human Resources)
- Magic Rounder Bats (Engineering and Informatics)
- Student Progress and Assessment
- Doctoral School
