Summer term 2017 group exercise class timetable

Summer vacation classes: Monday 12 June - Friday 4 August 2017

Our group exercise programme is designed to allow you to find the perfect workout to suit your goals. We take pride in being able to provide one of the largest and diverse group exercise programmes in the south east: with quality instruction and teaching at the heart of every class, plus the energy that group training brings. We believe we have a group exercise class for everyone.

All group exercise classes are free with gold and silver Sussexsport membership. To pay per class with bronze membership or as a non-member, please view our price list.

Monday

Aerial Yoga: 10.45am-11.45am

Instructor: Abi

Venue: Sport Centre Dance Studio 

Move between yoga postures using a low-hanging wide aerial silk, hung like a hammock, to give flowing movements that relax and stretch the body.

Long sleeves and long trousers recommended wear, but not essential. Please wear clothing with no zips or buckles, and remove watches and jewellery prior to each class.

Indoor Group Cycling: 12.05pm-12.50pm

Instructor: Fitness team

Venue: Sport Centre Fitness Room 

Cycle to the beat of the music or speed through challenging intervals. This high intensity class will help you burn calories, energise the body and is suitable for all abilities.

If you are new to indoor group cycling please read the Schwinn bike set up information first.

Yoga: 1pm-2pm

Instructor: Gratia

Venue: Dance Studio - Sport Centre

A combination of postures and stretches to increase flexibility, encourage proper alignment of the body and develop balance and strength. Different levels and abilities are catered for. This is a relaxing class which will leave you refreshed for the week ahead.

Bounce Dance: 1.05pm-1.50pm

Venue: Hall One or Two - Sport Centre

Bounce is a brand new high energy, fun and effective class for everyone. The class has a commercial Pop/R&B root and the choreography is fun and easy to follow combining the latest hip-hop and chart hits. Dance styles include Hip-Hop, Waacking, House and Vogue.

HIT: 5.10pm-6pm

Instructor: Ria

Venue: Hall One or Two - Sport Centre

This class is suitable for all fitness levels. You start the class with a short step routine designed to warm up the muscles used during the session. The rest of the class is split into 4 x 4 strength exercises using bodyweight and dumbells. You will work the lower body, upper body, whole body and core. The method of training creates a high intensity, high energy, high calorie burn.

A one hour session that focuses on all over body workout. This class is aimed to get you stronger, leaner, help you burn more calories and is guaranteed to leave you feeling like you have had a good session! The class is aimed at all levels from the beginner through to the advanced trainer.

Dynamic Pilates: 6pm-7pm

This is a much more movement based/demanding class for those that enjoy the core elements of Pilates but want a greater workout.

Venue: Falmer Sports Complex Training Room 2 

A class centred on strength training to produce a high intensity class that trains both the muscular and cardiovascular system to create a smart training solution. The class uses a rotation system, so the user can record their progress. The class uses barbells, dumbbells, ropes, kettlebells and medicine balls and requires some experience of free weight training. The class is a great calorie burner, great fun and is a challenging workout.

Insanity: 6.05pm-6.50pm

Venue: Hall one or Two - Sport Centre

The ultimate cardio and total body workout is based around the extremely popular training videos by Shaun T. The workout is high intensity and fast paced using intervals to burn energy and increase fitness. Using jumps, sprints, strength and core exercises this class should be top of your list if intensity is your thing.

Please note, due to changes in the class structure and your health and safety, you will not be permitted to join the session after the class has started.

Back and shoulders flexibility. In this class we will help create space, length and strength throughout the spine and shoulders to efficiently support your body for health, performance and injury prevention. From total beginners to advanced - tailored to individual bodies.

Group exerise class notes

  • If you have booked your place online then you will still need to come to reception to pick up your ticket or pay.
  • If you have booked your place online and fail to attend/pay/pick up your ticket then arrears will show on your account and you will be unable to carry out any other bookings until these arrears have been paid.
  • Drink plenty of water to avoid dehydration and if you have any injuries or problems then discuss these with the instructor before the class.
  • Please do not arrive late for any of the classes. Entry will be denied if you are more than 10 minutes late.
  • We ensure that all teachers are fully qualified and experienced. However, all participants take part in any activity at their own risk.

Waiting Lists

If a class is fully booked you have the option of going on the waiting list; just ask at either the Sport Centre or Falmer Sports Complex reception. Sussexsport will attempt to contact you if a place becomes available. Please note that being on a waiting list does not guarantee you a place, but is to note your interest in case a place becomes available.
