Project Name: A Project to Motivate Children to Become Physically Active

Project Info: In the summer of 2012 London hosted the Olympic and Paralympic games. The aim of the games was to inspire the next generation of athletes. As it turned out the Olympics not only inspired sports fans but also motivated people all across the nation to get involved in sport and become more physically active.

Through my research I found that by the time people are adults they have already developed their attitudes towards physical activity and find it hard to develop new exercise habits. Therefore I am aiming to instil these principles in people at a younger age through the medium of play. In that way my project aims to make it fun for children to be physically active while promoting a positive image of exercise and sport, hopefully helping to add to the Olympic legacy that Lord Sebastian Coe was keen to create.

Bio: My name is Ben Wilkins. I am a London born designer. I have been drawing and designing ever since I was able to hold a crayon. One area of design I have a keen interest in is lighting design, I also enjoy toy and game design and feel that I have produced some of my best work in this area. I aim to keep my design style relatively simple, trying to find an elegant solution to a complex problem, frequently favouring sweeping curved forms. I enjoy adding an element of humour and light-heartedness to my designs while at the same time combining aesthetics and functionality to create a pleasing all round design.
