The Housing Office is the main administrative wing of Residential Services. It provides a number of housing-related services to University of Sussex students:
- allocating rooms and organising transfers within University-managed properties, including the family flats
- issuing University tenancy agreements and related information
- operating a waiting list for students wishing to move into University accommodation
- running a swap list for students wanting to move to another University room
- administering a system for prioritising students with special housing needs
- administering the letting of void rooms during the academic year
- providing information on what is available in the private rented sector, via Studentpad, its on-line database
- dealing with complaints about university residences and private sector landlords
- giving general advice about housing problems
- tenancy-checking service
- providing references for students to landlords and letting agents
- together with the Student Union, running housing talks and providing information and advice
- providing a range of advice leaflets as well as streetmaps of Brighton and Hove
- liaising with other bodies about matters affecting student housing
