Laboratory of Apiculture and Social Insects (LASI)
The Laboratory of Apiculture and Social Insects moved from the University of Sheffield to the University of Sussex in February 2008, when Professor Francis Ratnieks was hired as Professor of Apiculture in the Department of Biological and Environmental Science. Research began in June 2008. On 7 April 2009, LASI was officially opened by Lord Robert May of Oxford. Professor Ratnieks is the only Professor of Apiculture in the UK.
