The Research Development team is responsible for advising on the preparation of applications for research funding, ensuring that they are properly costed and priced, for approving applications, and for processing and accepting awards. The research development officers work closely with the Heads of Schools and Directors of R&KE to develop strategies to take maximum advantage of funding opportunities and are each responsible for particular schools and subject groups and for acting as the main contact with specific types of funding agency.
This work includes:
- Providing advice and information on sources of research funding.
- Providing guidance on the application process and advising applicants on the rules of potential funders particularly as they relate to the preparation of applications.
- Assisting with the costing and pricing of applications.
- Checking, approving and signing all applications.
- Assisting with negotiations of contracts.
- Checking the terms of awards offered and confirming acceptability with applicants.
- Accepting awards and signing contracts.
- Entering information on applications and their outcomes on the Research Database.
