Course outline
The course examines the development of modern theories of how animals and humans learn. The course starts by exploring different historical approaches to learning and how these have developed from behaviourist theories into modern cognitive theories based on associative learning.Topics covered will include classical and instrumental conditioning and insightful learning.The course will end by considering how these theories have led to practical applications in clinical, economic and educational psychology.

LO1. The primary learning objective is to give students an understanding of current theories about learning and their broad significance for psychologyLO2. The second objective is to develop students ability to relate research findings to experimental theory
