Student Committee (Local Chair) & Local Organising Committee Member for the Association for the Scientific Study of Consciousness Conference 16 (2012)

Role

Research Fellow (2012 - present)

My primary research interest is in investigating the differences between what the conscious and unconscious can and cannot do in relation to learning and the associated phenomenology. For instance, what are the differences between knowing, intuition and merely guessing? What circumstances lead to these feelings and when are they accurate (or not)? To what degree are these processes separable? Are these feelings qualitatively distinct states or grades of awareness? What are the differences between healthy people and clinical populations in terms of these processes?

My research involves investigating the sorts of regularities that can be acquired unconsciously and the factors that affect acquisition and expression of types of knowledge.

My supervisor is Professor Zoltan Dienes and my second supervisor is Professor Andy Field
