 BA Pure Mathematics, PGCE , Diploma in Statistics, MA, EDD, GTC(E), FHEA.

 

Summary

Pat came to Sussex as mathematics PGCE tutor.  She served as PGCE Director 1993-6, Director of Initial Teacher Education  from 1999-2002, moving on to become Head of the Sussex School of Education from 2003 - 2006.

Pat's research interests  relate to teaching and learning mathematics, and have an applied focus.  Pat is also interested in insider research methodology, explored in her book published by Routledge in 2010: Insider research at doctoral level: Deveolping coherent methodologies. 

2007-2010 - Evaluating mathematics pathways. Funded by the QCDA, and with the Universities of Nottingham, Sussex and Manchester.

Pat is an active member of research groups Centre for Inquiry and Research in Cognition, Learning and Teaching in Sussex (CIRCLETS) and Centre for Higher Education and Equity Research (CHEER).
