Biography

Folkert did his Bachelor's degrees in Physics & Astronomy and Mathematics at Utrecht University in the Netherlands. During these degrees he spent a semester at the University of California at Santa Barbara as an exchange student. He finished his undergraduate studies at Utrecht University with a thesis on 'measurements of D-mesons with the ALICE detector'. Thereafter, he completed Master's degrees in Theoretical Physics and Mathematical Sciences (with a specialisation in Complex Systems) at Utrecht University, and graduated in 2018 with a thesis on 'Bifurcations in Renormalization Group Flows'. At Utrecht University, Folkert has also worked as a teaching assistant in the physics and mathematics departments, a board member of the physics department, a member of the physics student representative council, and as a member of the educational advisory committee of the physics department.

Folkert is a PhD student working at the University of Sussex under supervion of Prof. Xavier Calmet and is funded by STFC. Currently he is a visiting PhD student in the Theoretical Physics group of the Università di Bologna.
