I am a Lecturer (Assistant Professor) in Operations Management in the Department of Management at the University of Sussex Business School. I am an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. I teach in the areas of operations, supply chain and quality management, sustainability innovations and corporate social responsibility. My research concerns innovations in operations and supply chains as well as developments of new industrial models and business solutions for more sustainable and better performing production processes and networks.

Before joining Sussex, I worked as a Research Associate in the Centre for Industrial Sustainability, Institute for Manufacturing, at the University of Cambridge, UK (2014-2018), a Research Fellow in the Department of Management, Economics and Industrial Engineering, at Politecnico di Milano, Italy (2011- 2014), and a Research Assistant in the Department of Industrial Organisation and Business Management, at the University of Seville, Spain (2007-2010). I have worked in several large research projects, funded by the European Commission through FP7 and Horizon2020 programmes, and industry-oriented projects, funded by national funding bodies e.g. Innovate UK. I was a Marie-Curie Research Fellow in the European project iMaPla “Integrated Maintenance Planning” at the University Federico Santa Maria, Chile (2009), and a Visiting Scholar in the Intelligent Maintenance Systems Center at the University of Cincinnati, US (2013), and in the Centre for Industrial Sustainability at the University of Cambridge, UK (2014).

I am an Industrial Engineer, graduated at the University of Seville, Spain, and I completed a PhD in Management, Economics and Industrial Engineering from Politecnico di Milano, Italy. My PhD research examined how industrial maintenance can serve as an enabler for practicing more sustainable manufacturing operations and its fundamental role in the provision of industrial services. My PhD thesis was nominated Thesis of Excellence by the Italian Maintenance Association (AIMAN) and obtained the Best PhD Thesis in Maintenance Award by the European Federation of National Maintenance Societies (EFNMS).
