I have started my PhD in September 2017 in Social Psychology with Dr John Drury. I am interested in how social movements are ‘othered’ by the authorities / outgroups. My PhD. research will be looking at how marginalized groups succeed or fail in mobilizing support from the wider public following a disaster (especially Grenfell Tower).

I did my undergraduate degree in Psychology at Ankara University (Turkey) and my Master’s (in community social psychology) at UMass (USA), where I also worked as a teaching and research assistant. During my Master's research, I examined the experiences of international students on UMass Lowell campus to identify the challenges they face and explore the ways in which they can be better supported that can ultimately ensure positive and successful academic experience.
