Biography

Frances Miley is an accountant and lawyer from Australia.  She has worked in the private sector as an accountant, the public sector as a lawyer and accountant, and has taught in universities in Australia, Thailand and Uzbekistan.  Frances has undertaken consulting contracts in accounting and finance throughout Australasia including projects for the Agricultural Bank of China, Shenzhen Audit Bureau, Australian Bureau of Statistics and New Zealand Defence Force. Frances is particularly interested in accounting history and accounting education. Much of her research is concerned with accounting during times of social crisis and how popular culture has impacted on the development of accounting. If you are passionate about rugby, you will always be warmly welcomed by Frances, even if you know nothing about accounting.

Role

Frances is a senior lecturer in accounting and an accounting historian.  She is also Course Director of the undergraduate accounting degree.

Community and Business

Frances Miley is active in the accounting history community and is a member of the editorial board of the journal Accounting History.  She is a Fellow of CPA Australia, a member of the Academy of Accounting Historians, the British Accounting and Finance Association, and the Society for Renaissance Studies.

Frances is involved in a number of community projects where she provides her historical accounting expertise or furthers her interest in the arts.
