My research examines directorial practice in contemporary European theatre, with a particular focus on the UK and Germany. I am currently working on a monograph on the British director Katie Mitchell. I also publish on contemporary stagings of early modern drama, particularly its adaptations on the Continent (e.g. Thomas Ostermeier's work on Shakespeare at the Schaubuehne, Nicolas Stemann's Merchant in Munich).

My PhD thesis was a comparative study of the work of Katie Mitchell and Thomas Ostermeier, and I have published in journals ranging from the Shakespeare Bulletin to Contemporary Theatre Review.
