Biography

I am a Research Fellow in Sustainability Transitions Studies with a background in Media & Communication (University of Tartu, MA) and Science & Technology Studies (University of Edinburgh, PhD). Having joined SPRU in June 2016 my current task is to contribute to two emerging projects: Deep Sustainability Transitions and Designing Innovation Policies for Transformative Change.

Being a theorist at heart my interests are diverse and wide-ranging: while working as a lecturer in Technology Research in the University of Tartu I have given courses on social informatics, theories of contemporary societies, general social theories and information society. My (current) main research interests include transitions studies, history of technology and sociological theory. I have published on the role of users in transitions and on qualitative techniques for theorizing from historical narratives.
