Biography

After BA graduation in 2004, I became a journalist, writing a range of features for The Times, the FT, Time Out and more. However, it was experience of writing a weekly dating column in thelondonpaper and the subsequent two non-fiction, trade paperback books I researched and wrote on gender, dating and relationships that convinced me that dating is a uniquely fascinating and revealing social form. In order to better understand its role in the increasingly technologically-mediated intimate negotiations of my contemporaries I decided to pursue the topic academically, starting with an MPhil in Gender Studies (2012-2013) and leading to my current historically-framed work. I continue to write for newspapers and other media outlets and have been a commentator on a number of platforms, including Radio 4, Channel Five News and Channel Five Documentaries as well as in various magazine and newspaper articles. I am currently also a columnist for the Sunday Telegraph. I completed my PhD in 2017.
