Biography

Stavros Demetriou is a Lecturer in Law at the University of Sussex. Stavros holds an LLB in Law and an LLM in Criminal Justice from the University of Kent. He has also completed his PhD in Law, focusing on the implementation of the new anti-social behaviour injunction and whether this resulted in the indirect criminalisation of certain kinds of behaviour, at the University of Sussex.

Stavros’s research interests and expertise are in the areas of criminal justice reform, preventive criminalisation, civil preventive measures, and anti-social behaviour. Stavros has recently co-authored a new guide regarding the implementation of the anti-social behaviour tools and powers (for more information on this project see: http://blogs.sussex.ac.uk/policy-engagement/a-guide-to-implementing-the-law-on-anti-social-behaviour/) by local practitioners and the police. He also delivers training sessions on the use of the anti-social behaviour measures to local enforcement agents, politicians and NGOs.
