Biography

I was educated at the University of Oxford (BA 1991; DPhil 1994 with Prof L M Harwood), with post-doctoral studies at the Université de Genève (with Prof W Oppolzer), Loughborough and Exeter (with Prof C J Moody), before being appointed as a Lecturer in Organic Chemistry at Cardiff University in 1999. I stayed at Cardiff for 13 years, being promoted to a Senior Lecturereship in Organic Chemistry in 2004 and a Reader in 2006, before taking up my current position as Professor of Organic Chemistry at the University of Sussex in February 2012.

Role

I am the Professor of Organic Chemistry in the School of Life Sciences. I deliver many of the taught modules in Synthetic Organic Chemistry as part of the Chemistry degree programmes offered by the University and lead a vibrant research team in the School. I also serve as Degree Convenor of the Chemistry BSc and MChem UG programmes.
