Professor Calmet has been at Sussex since 2009. After graduating from the University of Karlsruhe in 1999, he moved to the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich where he obtained his Ph.D. in 2002. He was then a postdoctoral scholar successively at the California Institute of Technology, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, the Free University of Brussels, the University of Oregon and the Catholic University of Louvain before settling down at the University of Sussex. He works on particle astrophysics, cosmology and gravitational physics including quantum gravity and black holes. Professor Calmet is married and has three children.
