Biography

DPhil. Psychology, University of Sussex, 2007-2011

MSc. Health Psychology, Distinction, University of Sussex, 2006-2007

BSc. (Hons) Psychology, First Class, University of Leicester, 2003-2006

Role

I am currently working as a Research Assistant on a National Institute of Health Research project concerned with improving care at very premature births.

My doctoral research was concerned with the psychological impact of challenging health events, and how individuals adapt to such events, with a focus on childbirth. I am particularly interested in the positive changes that people report in response to these experiences - commonly termed as posttraumatic growth. I am also interested in the cross-cultural experiences of health events. As part of my DPhil research I spent time in The Gambia looking at the range of psychological outcomes experienced by women during pregnancy and following childbirth.
