Biography
B.Sc. (Econ) in International Relations, LSE; Ph.D. in International Relations, LSE
Stefan Elbe joined the Department in 2004 after holding previous positions at the London School of Economics, the International Institute for Strategic Studies, the University of Warwick, and the University of Essex. He has served as Head of the International Relations Department and as Director of Research for the School of Global Studies.

I am currently the Principal Investigator on a four-yar €1.2 million grant from the European Research Council (2013-2017). I have also served as an expert scientific advisor to the Medical Research Council (MRC), the Natural Environment Research Council (NERC), the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) and the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC). He is also a member of the Future Security Advisory Board.
Global Health, The International Politics of Disease, Health Security, Bio-Security, Pandemics, and the international politics of HIV/AIDS. Theories of security including national security, human security, securitzation theory, security and identity, the biopolitics of security, and governmentality.
