Biography

Will McCready is a Barrister and Teaching Fellow, specialising in Immigration and Asylum Law. He is currently leading the Migration Law Clinic, which provides pro bono legal advice to members of the public in relation to Immigration and Asylum law cases.

Before joining the University of Sussex in 2018, he was a tenant Barrister at Garden Court North Chambers, specialising in Human Rights Law, Immigration & Asylum Law and Judicial Review. 

In 2015, he completed a PhD at the University of Bristol in International Criminal Law and Public International Law, focusing on the jurisdictional immunities of States and their officials. He then completed a United Nations internship with the Trial Chamber of the Extraordinary Chambers of the Courts of Cambodia (ECCC), in the course of the trial of Cambodia’s former head of State, Khieu Samphan, and the former second in command of the Khmer Rouge, Nuon Chea, on charges of genocide and crimes against humanity.
