Biography
I graduated from the University of Glasgow (St Andrew's College) as a science teacher specialising in biology. My training as a secondary science teacher also incorporated a year in primary education. I taught science in Cheshire (O and A level Biology), South London (Croydon). I have worked as science teacher and for three years as Head of PSHE.
At various times I have worked in Special Educational Needs, teaching in the independent sector (preparatory school) as well as working in variety of schools on the South Coast.
Role
Teaching Fellow in Science Education
My main teaching responsibilities are the delivery of secondary science (biology) sessions, primary science and specialist input on transition issues in science education.
I act as a personal tutor for the KS2-3 Science PGCE trainees
My current research interests are geneder issues and literacy in science education. I also have an interest in transition issues related to science education and the differing pedagogies employed by primary and secondary teachers of science.
