Biography
Ian Wakeman is a Professor in Software Systems in the Department of Informatics at the University of Sussex. He has a BA in Electrical and Information Sciences from Cambridge University, a MS from Stanford University and a PhD from UCL. His research could be described as user-centred networking, investigating protocols and techniques to make computer networks work for people. This has spawned over 80 refereed papers in fields as diverse as congestion control for packetized video, programming languages for active networks and has more recently focused on trust based approaches for network and system configuration in pervasive computing. He is the co-founder of InCrowd Sports Ltd, which provide app driven connectivity within sports stadia. More detail can be found at Ian's personal webpages.
