Disciplinary Panel

The Disciplinary Panel, consisting of four faculty and two student members, met on 9 May to consider a case referred to it by the Discipline Committee.

A student in AFRAS, a student in COGS and a student in GRCiSS were found guilty of taking part in action designed to prevent the Chancellor's Society dinner from taking place on 17 November 1999. They were found not guilty of joining with others in gaining forcible entry by breaking through a fire door.

Bulletin readership questionnaire

What do you think of the Bulletin? We have sent out thousands of questionnaires from the Press and Communications Office, giving members of the University community the opportunity to have a say in the future of the publication.

We would like to thank the hundreds of people who have already given us their views. If you aren't one of them, please spare a few minutes and return your questionnaire to us by 26 May. There's still time to be in with the chance of winning a bottle of champagne!

If you haven't received a questionnaire and would like to make your voice heard, contact Alison Field (ext. 8609) or Harriet Sexton (ext. 8209).

Staff Welfare Officer

Richard Price, the University's Staff Welfare Officer, has a new telephone number. It is now (87)7712. Alternatively you can contact him by email at R.A.B.Price@sussex.ac.uk or in Arts B20.

Richard is available to provide confidential advice and assistance to members of staff on matters relating to employment or personal problems. Where appropriate, he may also help staff in obtaining information or assistance relating to problems outside the workplace, such as debt, legal difficulties or access to benefits.

Staff and PGs engineer victory over UGs

Undergraduates were narrowly defeated in the Year 2000 EIT games night, the Bulletin can reveal. As always the contest was closely fought, but staff and postgraduates in the School of Engineering and Information Technology maintained the upper hand for the tenth time in 16 annual competitions. The two teams competed in games both physical and cerebral (including football, squash and chess), but also trivial (such as darts, Jenga and Pictionary). Many units on campus kindly donated prizes for a raffle, held to raise funds for the Mozambique Flood Appeal.
