Sir William McCrea
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Emeritus Professor Sir William McCrea, FRS, at the age of 94. Sir William was the founder of the Astronomy Centre in 1966 and held Chairs in mathematics at Belfast and London before coming to Sussex. He was awarded the Gold Medal of the Royal Astronomical Society in 1976. A memorial service will be held in the Meeting House at 2.30 pm on Tuesday 22 June. All who knew Sir William are invited to come and join his family in a celebration of his life. |
