Our new strategic plan 2013-2018

"Our current plan, launched in 2009, runs to 2015, but we have already achieved most of its goals. That we have done so is thanks to the hard work of the people at Sussex.

“The creation of our new strategic plan for Sussex for 2013-18 is a collaborative endeavour, to ensure that the goals and ambitions we set are the right ones for the positive development and continued success of the University.”

Professor Michael Farthing

From 5 July 2013, the University is seeking views from staff and students on the draft of a new strategic plan for Sussex for 2013-18.

You need to have a Sussex login to access and read the document.  We welcome feedback on the form provided or to sussexfuture@sussex.ac.uk by Friday 9 August 2013:

The draft now online for comment was discussed at the University’s governing body (Council) on 28 June and at its academic body (Senate) on 14 June. It follows extensive discussions led by the Vice-Chancellor during this year with groups of students and with academic and professional services staff, as well as discussion within committees across the University.

The context for development of the plan was most recently set out by the Vice-Chancellor at his open meetings for staff and in his most recent column in the online Bulletin. You can read on these pages the full background and timetable to the development of the plan.

The plan will set out the vision for how the University should develop – with goals for teaching, learning and the student experience; research; campus development; engagement with the community; economic and social impact; and operating sustainably.

The plan will be refined further, including in light of feedback, and the aim is to launch the new plan during the autumn term. The plan, when published, will include examples of the investments being made in staff, students, the campus estate, services and technology.  The final public version will be  a summary with more detailed plans available for staff and students.
