. UNIVERSITY OF SUSSEX TO HOST HIGHER EDUCATION FAIR

9 March 2000
For immediate release

More than 6,000 pupils from schools across Sussex, Kent and Surrey have been invited to attend a Higher Education Fair at the University of Sussex on 21 and 22 March.

They will get the chance to meet representatives from 120 universities and colleges of higher education and will hear speakers from the University of Sussex, the University of Brighton, Kent Institute of Art and Design and King's College, University of London, who will talk about general aspects of applying for degree courses and the careers they could lead to. Representatives from UCAS, the Teacher Training Agency and 'gap year' organisations will also be present.

The event has been organised by Sussex Careers Services (covering East Sussex and Brighton & Hove) and West Sussex Careers Service, who have combined forces for the first time. For the past two years, the University of Sussex has hosted the fair for Sussex Careers Services. The fair is one of a series of national events supported by UCAS and the Guardian newspaper.

University of Sussex Assistant Registrar Rob Evans said: "We are delighted once again to be hosting the county Higher Education Fair and even more pleased that it is a combined event. We are pleased to be able to offer our support to the local careers services."

The event takes place in Bramber House from 9.30am until 3.30pm on 21 and 22 March.
