Denis MacShane, the Minister for Europe, will visit the Sussex European Institute at the University of Sussex on Tuesday 9 September.
The visit is part of the Minister's country-wide tour to promote the benefits of the enlargement of the European Union next year. On 1 May 2004, 10 new member states will join the European Union. They are Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Poland, Slovakia and Slovenia.
The Sussex European Institute (SEI) celebrated its tenth anniversary in 2002. During the past ten years it has served as the focal point for postgraduate training and research in contemporary European studies at the University of Sussex. Nearly 600 students from 50 countries have completed postgraduate courses at SEI since it was formed.
