A report published by the Chartered Association of Business Schools (CABS) on the annual research income of UK business schools ranks the University of Sussex School of Business, Management and Economics among the country's leading institutions in the field.
The report, Research Income for Business and Management: Analysis of HEIDI data 2010/2011-2013/2014, includes Sussex in a table of 19 UK business schools – including Warwick, Lancaster and LSE - whose total research income was greater than £3 million between 2011/12 and 2013/14. Sussex is placed at number 14 with a total of £4.45 million over the two year period.
The same table shows that the School’s annual research income has increased from £26,000 in 2011/12 to £2.38 million in 2013/14 - an increase of over 9,000% in two years.
Sussex is also included in a grouping of business schools not belonging to a particular mission group with an average income of over £4 million across the same timeframe.
Head of School Professor Steven McGuire said:
"This ranking places us in sensational company. Our inclusion alongside a triple-accredited school such as Lancaster is clear recognition that we’re among the best management schools in the UK for research."
