Colourful welcome for new international students

Hundreds of new international students enjoyed a welcome reception at the Brighton Dome on Sunday (30 September).

The function began with welcome drinks, a light buffet and a speech from the Pro-Vice-Chancellor (International), Professor Chris Marlin.

A local jazz band entertained the 800 students - some of whom took the opportunity to dress up in national costume.

Other guests included the Mayor of Brighton, Councillor Bill Randall, heads of school, and other academics and senior University officials.

"The feedback was very positive," said Sara Dyer, Head of International Students' Support. "New students said they loved the venue and thought it was a memorable way to start their studies at Sussex.”
