The comedian, actor and activist Eddie Izzard will visit the University of Sussex on the eve of the EU referendum in a final push for his pro-Europe campaign.

The free, public event on 22 June will be the performer’s last stop on his nationwide Stand Up For Europe tour, taking in 31 UK cities in 31 days.

Eddie Izzard describes himself as “proud to be a British European” and strongly believes that Britain should fight for its right to remain in Europe.

His Stand Up For Europe campaign has two simple aims: to encourage people to exercise their democratic rights, and to persuade them to vote REMAIN in the referendum on 23 June.

The event takes place in the 350-seater Attenborough Centre for the Creative Arts on the University’s campus at Falmer from 12.30-1.30pm on Wednesday 22 June.

He will speak for around half an hour and then take questions from the audience.

Laura McDermott, Creative Director of the Attenborough Centre, said: “We’re excited that Eddie chose to bring his national tour to University of Sussex less than 24 hours before ballots open.

“Eddie is a fantastic performer and he is passionate about the things he believes in. I find him very inspiring.  I encourage everyone to come along to this free public event to listen, question and challenge him - he’d expect nothing less.”

This event is now fully booked.
