Reading Art History: Critical Texts (V3020)

Autumn teaching

This module looks in-depth at some of the methods of study that have shaped the discipline of art history, and debates that have influenced the nature of art history, particularly in the wake of the 'new' art history. The module will cover a variety of dominant methods and influences on the current discipline of art history, such as iconology, feminist theory, postcolonialism, semiotics, and/or the social history of art.

This module is 150 hours of work. This breaks down into 24 hours of contact time and 126 hours of independent study.
