Fifteen AS level students have ‘graduated’ after completing nine months of university-style tuition at Sussex Law School.
The students took part in the Sussex Study Experience, an initiative which saw over 60 students from partnering schools and colleges pursue a programme of study, choosing from English, History, Media, History and Media, Law, Art History and Physics.
On the Law programme, students engaged with a wide range of legal subject areas including media law, criminal law, human rights law and land law.
They also had the opportunity to visit Lewes Crown Court, take part in their own mock trial in the Freeman Moot Court Room, and visit the Houses of Parliament and the Supreme Court in London.
Students graduated on 11 July 2015, when they were presented with certificates from the university academics who had taught them, including Dr Verona Ni Drisceoil, David Davies, Mary Frances Lukera, Stavros Demetriou and Po-Han Lee.
The objective of the Sussex Study Law Experience was to offer students subject enrichment in law, offer a taster to study law at university, see law in practice and, most importantly, to help students build confidence and develop presentation and communication skills.
