Sussex Law School’s successful streak continues, as it is revealed that the Criminal Advocacy team have secured a place in the National Finals of the Oxford University Press/Blackstones Criminal Advocacy Competition.
Team members Ciaran King, Sebastian Cox, Sian Beaven and Susana Cardoso were ranked fourth of a total eight finals qualifiers, but will compete equally on a knockout basis at the National Finals in July.
Their victory comes after a string of mooting and criminal advocacy successes for Sussex Law School, including the outstanding success of the shadow team supplied by the University to even the numbers in the first rounds of the Criminal Advocacy Competition.
Speaking after the School’s victory, Acting Head of Law Professor Richard Vogler extended congratulations to the team members, and thanked the student trainers and Law Course Coordinator Chris Turnbull for their ongoing support.
He added: “Our greatest thanks goes to Julia Moffatt for her tireless efforts in selecting, coaching, transporting and encouraging the teams.”
The team will now prepare for the National Finals, which take place on 4 July.
