Sussex Law School lecturer Dr Colin King is among a trio of academics who successfully hosted a two-day event focussing on criminal and terrorist anti-assets strategy last week.
The two-day event, Asset-Stripping: Responses to the Financing of Terrorism and Crime, was held at the University of Notre Dame, London Law Centre on 14 and 15 May 2015.
Funded by a substantial grant from the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC), the event was organised as a collaboration between Dr King, Professor Clive Walker (University of Leeds) and Professor Jimmy Gurule (University of Notre Dame, USA).
The event is one of three workshops funded by the AHRC and designed to bring together in a network key stakeholders from policy, practice and research backgrounds to explore emerging issues surrounding criminal and terrorist assets.
It was attended by around 65 delegates, representing a cross-section of academics, practitioners and policy activists from across the globe. They heard talks from leading officers from the Home Office and the CPS, as well as academics and policy analysts.
The event will be followed with a publication and an additional event, which will be held abroad next year and focus on comparative and international perspectives, is also in the pipeline.
