Biography
I have been working in the field of zebrafish biology and genetics for over 15 years. I started my PhD with Derek Stemple at the NIMR in 2002 and then moved to the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute in 2003. After completing my PhD in developmental biology I moved to the lab of Greg Elgar who was at the time at Queen Mary University London to work as a post-doc on functional genomics. I then returned to the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute in 2009 to work as a staff scientist in computer biology annotating the human and zebrafish genome with the HAVANA group. In 2011 I moved to the University of Birmingham to the lab of Ferenc Mueller to work as a post-doc in developmental genetics. I arrived at Sussex in 2013 to work as a post-doc in the lab of Guy Richardson on hearing and deafness. In 2019 I was awarded a Pauline Ashley Fellowship by Action on Hearing Loss to research the role of RabGTPases in intracellular trafficking of aminoglycoside antibiotics in sensory hair cells.
