I obtained my PhD by investigating computer-based hydrogen bonding parameters for Quantitative Structure-Activity Relationships (QSAR) from Liverpool John Moores University in 1997, following my Pharmacy Doctorate (Pharm.D.) from Tabriz University of Medical Sciences. I then developed my independent research laboratory in Tabriz University of Medical Sciences, first as an assistant and then as an associate professor of Pharmaceutical and Medicinal Chemistry. In 2002, I spent one year in the University College London developing computational models for the prediction of eye irritation potential of compounds. I then joined the European Union EASYRING project at Liverpool John Moores University for the prediction of endocrine disruptors (2003-2004). I joined University of Kent in 2005, where I participated in the development, accreditation and delivery of a new pharmacy (MPharm) course and built my research laboratory focused on ADME/tox projects and transdermal drug delivery funded by the University of Kent and EPSRC. In November 2015, I moved to the University of Sussex as Senior Lecturer of Pharmaceutics and Drug Discovery, where I continue to work on the prediction of a wide range of drug properties and mechanistic studies including characterisation and/or modelling of pharmacological, toxicological and physicochemical behaviours of small molecule drugs.
