Prof Michael Ramsey
Sussex scientist Professor Michael Ramsey has been awarded the L S Theobald Lectureship of the Royal Society of Chemistry, given in recognition of “a significant contribution to analytical chemistry”.
Professor Ramsey’s particular area is in devising methods for the evaluation of the uncertainty of chemical measurement arising from the process of primary sampling.
He will receive his award and deliver a plenary lecture - provisionally entitled 'Sampling: the most uncertain part of the measurement process' - at the Analytical Research Forum from 8-10 July at the University of Hertfordshire.
As an emeritus professor at Sussex, Professor Ramsey will continue his research in this field, including writing and presentation of papers (e.g. in China in April), and the supervision of two current PhD students.
