Sussex Research Online

Sussex Research Online (SRO) contains a record of the research outputs of authors at the University of Sussex. It also contains the full text of some articles and other outputs which can be freely downloaded.

SRO was launched in February 2012. It contains publication data imported from various sources on campus, including the previous publication system which was accessed through Sussex Direct. 

It is the source of publication information on campus, and feeds information to other campus services such as web profiles for academics and reporting for the REF2014.

Researchers at Sussex will need to ensure new research outputs (articles, books, book chapters, conference papers, etc) are added to SRO. It's easy to add new records to the system and staff based in the Library will check the information before making it live.

About the service

Sussex Research Online (SRO) is the institutional repository of the University of Sussex. It provides a single location for information about our research outputs, making them globally available. Sussex Research Online is a key part of the University’s research strategy.

What are the benefits to the researcher?

  • Reach potential research collaborators, funders, and students
  • Easier to comply with funder requirements to make publications available via open access

SRO provides a single, stable archive of research outputs that feeds into other institutional systems and processes, including the publications tab on web profiles. It allows the production of research-related lists and reports for individuals and departments. Publication data from SRO will be used for the REF2014 submission.
