The material is now largely historical as many statistics are now available online via the resources listed below. The printed collection is organised by country or by international organisation. Most of them are made freely available via the web, but to access some datasets you will need to register with the body that owns the data. In most cases this will be for data from one of the four main data centres in the UK.* |

| ESDS gives access to many of the key
social science datasets maintained by its four centres of expertise. To aid ease of access ESDS is split into four specialist areas: ESDS Government, ESDS International, ESDS Longitudinal and ESDS Qualidata. *Users have to register to access all the data* |
ESDS Government | Provides access to important data resources for
social scientists covering areas such as crime, economics, housing,
labour
and social attitudes.
Key datasets in this section include the General Household Survey, Labour Force Survey, Family Expenditure Survey, British Social Attitudes and the British Crime Survey. |
| ESDS International | Provides access to a range of macro and micro international datasets. Key datasets include the NS Time Series Data, the OECD Main Science and Technology Indicators, the IMF Direction of Trade Statistics and the World Bank World Development Indicators. | |
| ESDS Longitudinal | This supports the use of the most-widely used
British longitudinal data collections.
These include the British Cohort Study, British Household Panel Survey, Millennium Cohort Study and National Child Development Survey. |

| ESDS Qualidata | This is a specialist service from the UK Data
Archive which provides access to a range of social science qualitative
data sets.

UKBORDERS | This is the main service supplying UK academics
with access to digital boundary data. It also
includes some historical boundaries
such as County Boundaries, Registration Districts and Poor Law
Unions.
This data is available in a number of GIS formats including MapInfo MIF/MID, ArcView Shape and Arc/Info Export. |
| Digimap | Allows users to view and create maps
of any location in Great Britain using Ordnance Survey map data.
Users can also download Ordnance Survey map data for use in other software packages, such as Geographical Information Systems (GIS), drawing software and CAD. |

Census data | The Census Dissemination Unit at MIMAS provides
access to, and support for the use of the primary aggregate statistical
outputs from the 1981, 1991 and 2001 Censuses and associated
digital boundary data.

Landmap | Provides satellite image mosaics of Landsat, SPOT and ERS radar data and a high resolution Digital Elevation Model for the British Isles.
