EndNote and the Library Catalogue

You can download from the catalogue by going to the record of an item and selecting 'save' from the right hand side and selecting 'Endnote' this will save an Endnote compaitible file.

To export many items from the catalogue you will need to make a list. To do this, in the search results select Save next to one of the records and enter a list name. Select Save next to other items, a box will appear with the same list name you just entered by default, click on the save button on this box to save the item to the list. Once you have added items, go to My Saved Items in the top menu. This will display your list, at the bottom of the list is an option to export to Endnote.

Using the connection file

A connection file allows you to search the Library catalogue from within Endnote itself. While this is useful, it should be noted the results may differ, and be in a different order, to those when searching the catalogue normally using the same phase.

Download connection file for EndNote. By clicking on the link, and selecting Open, if prompted by your browser, it should open in Endnote, showing you the configuration window. At this point you should be able to close the coniguration window and it will be saved for future use.

Alternatively, for Windows 7, save it to Libraries\Documents\Endnote\Connections. If you are a PC administrator you can also save it to C:\Program Files (x86)\EndNote X4\Connections or similar depending on the version of Endnote.

To use the connection file go to the 'Tools' menu > 'Online Search' and select 'U Sussex
