Biography

Neil is currently studying for his DPhil in International Relations at Sussex. He holds an MA in International Relations from Queen’s University Belfast, and a BA in History and Politics from University College Dublin.  

Role

Associate Tutor and DPhil Candidate.

Activities

Neil has worked as an editor of Excursions Journal, an on-line peer-reviewed interdisciplinary journal run by Doctoral Researchers at Sussex. He is also a frequent guest contributor to Pinpoint Politics,  a political commentary website operating from the University of Warwick, King’s College London, and University College London.

Neil is currently the AT Rep for International Relations.

Neil's primary research interest concerns the asymmetry of the European sovereign debt crisis, such that peripheral states have been more severely affected.

His doctoral thesis is provisionally entitled Beyond Immaturity and Victimisation: The European Periphery and the Eurozone Crisis.

The study explores the dynamics of the Eurozone crisis in peripheral states, particularly Portugal, Greece and the Republic of Ireland.

This work is supervised by Dr. Kevin Gray, and Dr. Fabio Petito.
