- Electronic Library : including services, authentication, support.

- Promote Open Access to academic content, and also Open Data.
- Maintain the Library website and web services : recent developments include new Subject Guides using LibGuides, CalmView for Special Collections catalogue, Talis Aspire for Reading Lists, Capita Prism for our Catalogue and Primo as our Discovery service.
- Provide technical advice to other Library initiatives and help implement technology to improve work flows and user services.
- Using web standards (and especially those for metadata and academic content) such as OpenURL, CoINS, z39.50, Atom, OAI-PMH, etc.
- Promote web based tools and services to aid research (such as bibliographic management applications, e.g. Zotero, CiteULike, Mendeley)

- E-theses : New DPhil Thesis submissions will be held electronically in the Institutional Repository (Sussex Research Online) and made publicly available.
- Working with others to re-develop the Institutional Repository (Sussex Research Online) to make it the primary location for the University's research outputs.
- Improve Library Communications using social media such as Twitter, YouTube and Facebook.

- Working with ITS to provide Shibboleth (UK Federation) authentication for e-resources and more.
- Introduce Metalib cross-search for journal articles and other online resources (Electronic Library 'QuickSearch').
- Introduce a new Resource Discovery interface called Aquabrowser for the Library Catalogue.
- Presenting at UKSG and other conferences, and a recent article in the journal Serials.
I sit on the COPAC Steering group and have evaluated bids for a number of JISC calls for funding.
I'm interested in how web technologies can be used to help discover and use information, including search tools and bibliographic management. My work includes metadata, storing research outputs and digitalisation. If you work or study at Sussex and want to chat regarding any of these things then do get in touch.
I'm on twitter (and other social media sites) as @chriskeene.
