CReDAUL

CReDAUL stands for 'Combining Resource Discovery Across University Libraries'. The project developed an innovative combined search interface searching across both the University of Sussex and the University of Brighton libraries.

Sabre homepageIn a nutshell the CReDAUL project:

  • Looked at Open Source library discovery solutions, in particular: VuFind and Blacklight.
  • Install the selected software (VuFind) and set it up for our needs
  • Add records from both Library systems
  • Provide live holdings/availability information from both systems.
  • Carry out User needs analysis and testing, carried out by an academic who specialises in this area
  • Write up our findings in a case study so that others may learn from our experience

It was part of the JISC 12/09 Funding Call 'Enhancing Library Management Systems'. It comes under Theme A 'Use of new resource discovery interfaces'.

See our blog, which was used to share our experience and provide a case study.

The final service was launched as Sabre in 2011.

The project was based here at the University of Sussex and had help and support from the University of Brighton and BSMS. The Project Manager was Chris Keene.
